Children’ s health
Why this Program is needed:
BIGSKINNYKIDS While studying to earn certification to be a children’s fitness specialist, I was shocked at children’s, (and adults), lack of activity and the crucial role that plays in their health and Well- being. Daily studies are proving the connection between mind and body health and the importance of being active. It is never too young to start educating children on the health benefits of fitness.

Kids these days are not as active as they once were.
In fact, Less than 25% of children get the recommended amount of physical activity. The recommend amount is 60 minutes a day. (Presidential council on fitness)

Active children are more likely to become active adults.
Active children are more likely to become active adults but as many children age into adolescence, their physical activity levels decline.” According to the Center of Disease Control,” insufficient physical activity is a risk factor for persons being overweight or obese and for having many related chronic diseases and regular physical activity is associated with immediate and long-term health benefits (e.g., weight control, lower blood pressure, improved cardio respiratory function, and enhanced psychological well-being.

Physical Education and Recess are being cut from school budgets:

“With obesity at near epidemic proportions among our young people, you'd think physical
education would be at the top of schools' priority lists. But you'd be wrong. Only six percent of
schools in the United States offer daily physical education classes,” reports The Early Show's Debbie Turner.
There also the daily studies linking exercise and better learning, focus and memory. Promoting fitness, healthy lifestyles, and activity must be a responsibility and a priority for anyone who influences children.
