The Big Skinny Active Kids is an innovative program
adaptable to all fitness levels and ages. We explore movement of the body, flexibility,
functional fitness, cardiovascular, endurance, balance, coordination, agility, power and
strength in a non -competitive, playful environment. We are determined to help your child
make a mind body connection with fitness and activity, and be able to use exercise has a
tool in dealing with stress, and taking control of their own physical and mental health.
How Can The Big Skinny Help?
Team Sports are not for all Kids: Some children dont feel they
are good enough athletes to be on a team, others do not like the competitive atmosphere.
This program is geared for the individual who wants to explore solo fitness methods.
Kids Experience Stress, too!
Children have stress and experience the same physiological responses
that adults do. School can be especially stressful for kids who have a lot of energy or
might learn differently. School- related stress is the most prevalent, untreated cause of
academic failure in our schools.
Achievement stress, the widespread invisible disability
is rarely detected but generally gets worse as children progress through school. Exercise
has been proven to be a stress reliever. More and more research shows that exercise can help with mental health also.
Release from depression and anxiety are a few of the mental benefits of exercise. Recent studies show that it takes a little as eight minutes
of exercises to release serotonin, (5hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT, is a neurotransmitter in the
brain that has an enormous influence over many brainfunctions), which will increase you
overall sense of wellbeing . |
